How to Check if Your Laptop Has an SSD or HDD
Find out whether your laptop uses a Solid State Drive or Hard Disk Drive using simple built in tools.
Why It Matters
SSDs are much faster than HDDs and provide quicker startup times, better application performance, and improved reliability.
Windows
Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, and click Disk. Windows will display whether the drive is an SSD or HDD.
Mac
Open System Information and select Storage to view your installed drive.
Should You Upgrade
If your laptop still uses an HDD, upgrading to an SSD is one of the most noticeable performance improvements you can make.
